Hi Emily, nice cover in Taiwan. :) I recently read Heart of the matter, and I loved it, it's a great book. I'm looking forward to your next book, Where We Belong... All the best, Victoria. :)
Nice cover! Since we're Taiwanese, I asked my mom what the characters say. She said the literal translation is: "Once again, I am so touched and feel full passion (loved)." Just thought that was interesting. :)
Wow. Not what I was expecting/would envision. Maybe I'm just too attached to my deep purple cover ;) Wondering what YOU think?! Can't imagine what it must be like as an author to see your many different covers...
I have to agree with TrnTmenT's comment. From the cover it looks like a typical love story of a couple but its more than that. Anyway which women is on the cover- Valarie or Tessa?
It has to be Tessa. As Valerie admitted, what she and Nick has was an "impossible fantasy". They were hiding in her house completely apart from the real world where there were no expectations, or laundry or bills and wher she and ChRlie thought Nick walked on water (just like his mom did) and where he was basking in the role of the savior without any responsibilities. While the book doesn't give any real indiction of how Nick finally came to the realization that whatever feelings he had for Valerie did nit even compare to his love for Tessa, I think we have to believe that Emily is being honest with the readers and that he is sincere in the final chapter. If the above translation is correct, it only makes sense for the woman on the cover to be Tessa. Besides, Valerie is a brunette. Just have to say that I hated her from the minute she drove past Nicks's house in the middle of the night. What kind of woman gets involved with a married father of two no matter how attractive??
After just finishing Heart of the Matter, I really don't know if this cover portrays what the story is about. It looks like a romance novel cover of a young couple in love. At the same time, it does portray an air of forgiveness (scene at the end).
Just a side note though. It was a wonderful book. I hope that the next book comes out very soon.

ReplyDeleteWhich woman is supposed to be the woman on the cover?
ReplyDeleteHi Emily!
ReplyDeleteThis book will be a sensation in a Chinese community. It is important to discuss all aspects of why an infidelity occurs in real life.
good luck!
I think it is a beautiful cover, but it is a bit misleading I think in regards to the book's plot and its characters.
